I visited a café today for lunch and learned that they had changed owners about two months ago. Since a few people had recommended the food, I decided to give it a try. The lady who served me was very friendly and explained the recent change in ownership. She also mentioned that they offer an Indian menu on Fridays and Saturdays between 4pm to 8pm and have a separate menu (Note this is a vegetarian menu) Given the new additions to the menu, I decided to stick with the Indian theme and ordered a chicken tikka and cheese panini, along with a chicken samosa. The chicken tikka was full of flavour with just the right amount of spice. The panini itself was fresh, nicely toasted. The chicken samosa was also excellent, with a crispy exterior and a flavourful filling of chicken and spices. I will definitely be back to try more items from the menu.

The cafe has been through a number of owners in recent years, and I believe the most recent owner took over the business in summer 2024. Overall, it is a nice cafe for lunch. Their menu is extensive and no doubt there’s something for everyone! The jacket potatoes in particular are very nice. The new owners are lovely and are trying to put their own stamp on things by introducing Indian street food at the weekends (not my personal taste). I’m only marking it down a star because one of their key suppliers is The Garrison Bakery. What made Toasteas unique is that their homemade desserts were special - Karen (previous owner), made some really lovely cakes. Now they are supplied in by The Garrison Bakery, as are other items. Still though, there are still some nice additions to the menu worth exploring!

I discovered this little cafe through social media, now under new ownership as of June 2024. During the day, they offer paninis, sandwiches, cakes, and coffee, but on Fridays and Saturdays, they switch things up with Indian street food from 4 to 8 pm. We decided to try the street food, and it was absolutely delicious—full of flavour! I’ll definitely be coming back. Wishing the new owners the best of luck!
